Dr. Daniel Paris is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides psychotherapy and psychological testing to adults, children, and adolescents. Dr. Paris takes an integrative approach to therapy that emphasizes genuineness, a strong therapeutic alliance, and a collaborative approach. He is passionate about helping people discover meaning and purpose in the midst of suffering. He has experience treating a wide variety of clinical presentations and has particular interest in working with young adults, those who have experienced trauma, married or engaged couples, and parent-child dyads. He is a certified EMDR therapist through EMDRIA and offers both EMDR and CPT to those interested in trauma-focused treatment. He has also received extensive training in the integration of clinical practice with a Catholic/Christian vision of the person, and provides faith-integrated psychotherapy with clients of any background for whom faith or spirituality is of interest.
Regarding testing, Dr. Paris has experience providing psychodiagnostic clarification, psychoeducational testing, IQ testing, ADHD screeners, and pre-surgical (e.g., bariatric) evaluation. He strives to provide every testing client with a thorough, readable report with actionable recommendations.
Dr. Paris earned a bachelor’s in psychology from the College of William & Mary, a master’s in theology from the Augustine Institute in Denver, Colorado, and a masters and doctorate in clinical psychology from the Institute for the Psychological Sciences at Divine Mercy University. He completed his predoctoral internship at the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System in Biloxi, MS, where he completed rotations in residential PTSD treatment, behavioral medicine, acute inpatient psychology, and general mental health. He has worked in a variety of settings including community mental health agencies, university counseling centers, acute psychiatric hospitals, and within the intelligence community. Dr. Paris is a member of several professional organizations and has guest lectured at George Washington University. He lives in Manassas with his wife and children.
