Dr. Brad Applegate is a highly trained clinical health psychologist with 25 years of experience providing assessment, treatment, and consultation across a wide range of clinical populations.
Dr. Applegate uses a case formulation approach to identify and understand client problems. He then collaborates with clients to determine appropriate goals and then employs evidence-based treatments to reduce symptoms, improve functioning, and attain peak performance.
As a health psychologist, Dr. Applegate has a deep understanding of the biopsychosocial influences on health, medical symptoms, and psychological well-being, and has become a “go to” resource to several area physicians to support their care in patients with complex medical presentations.
Dr. Applegate also has experience working with mid-and advanced career professionals to manage stress, attain career goals, and maintain work-life balance. This has led him to work with families to help them function more effectively and manage issues such as parent management, failure to launch, and enhancing marital satisfaction.
In 2016, Dr. Applegate shifted from full-time to part-time practice and began working with the Department of Defense (DoD) as an expert trainer, where he mentored and trained over two hundred mental health professionals to learn and master evidence-based assessment and treatment in medical facilities.
Dr. Applegate is a 22-year resident of Loudoun County, VA where he lives with his wife (Dr. Heather Applegate) and son.
