During his career, Dan Martino has treated a wide variety of clients, including Holocaust and 9/11/01 survivors, burn victims, special needs students and oncology patients. He has been a therapist, educator, and clinician in numerous settings, including public and private schools, general and psychiatric hospitals, mental health outpatient, and addiction treatment programs. Specialized locations include oncology centers, child and adolescent programs and group homes.

After careful and thorough assessments, services for clients include evidence-based, cost-effective treatment strategies for presenting issues including complex trauma, depression, anxiety, panic disorders, phobias, substance and process addictions, medical complications, and relationship issues.  Dan uses a comprehensive, holistic mind-body approach.

Dan was a clinical supervisor at the University of Miami and provided supervision for graduate counseling students from Marymount and George Mason Universities. He has taken advanced training in IMAGO Relationship Therapy, mindfulness, behavioral medicine and has conducted research in psychoneuroimmunology.  Locations included hospitals and clinics at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Medical Center, Harbor View Hospital, Parkway Regional Medical Center, and Columbia Hospital satellites.  In Virginia, centers include Arlington Hospital, Winchester Memorial Hospital, the Recovery Center of Northern Virginia, and programs in the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board. He established the therapy program at Virginia Advanced Medical Center.

Dan offers a very flexible schedule, with evening and weekend hours available. He conducts in-person, telehealth, and phone sessions. In addition, he helps family members navigate systems to pinpoint appropriate treatment options for relatives. Dan is an advocate for family members and support networks as well as clients. He welcomes appointments for family members who are looking for treatment options for their relatives.
