- Rachel Martell Schuchart is a licensed clinical psychologist with many years of experience helping children, teens, and adults. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Antioch New England Graduate School and a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Saint Michael’s College. After finishing school, she completed advanced training as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital.
- During her fellowship, Dr. Schuchart was hired as a Staff Psychologist at the DC Superior Court Child Guidance Clinic. There, she helped children and families involved in the court system and served as the Training Director for their APA-approved internship program, where she supervised countless future psychologists.
- After her time at the court, Dr. Schuchart became the Clinical Director at Safe Shores – The DC Children’s Advocacy Center, a place that supports children and teens who have been affected by trauma and violence. She supervised therapy staff, coordinated care with community professionals, and became certified in two highly effective trauma treatments: TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Dr. Schuchart has worked with many children and adolescents in therapy. She helps young people express their feelings, develop healthy coping strategies, and feel more in control of their experiences. Her warm and thoughtful approach helps children feel safe, understood, and supported.
- Today, Dr. Schuchart works at the Department of Defense (DoD). There, she serves in a supervisory capacity. She conducts psychological assessments, interviews, and evaluations to determine whether individuals are ready for deployment, security clearance, and special assignments. She also develops programs to support mental health and resilience in the workplace.
- For over 17 years, Dr. Schuchart has also worked as a consultant for APPS, providing forensic evaluations, consultation, and evidence-based individual therapy. She continues to use her expertise to assess and support children, drawing on her background as a licensed school psychologist for grades K–12. She has also taught graduate-level courses in psychology at Argosy University and George Washington University, sharing her knowledge of testing, ethics, and working with people involved in the legal system.
