Dr. Susan Hamilton Returns to
Ashburn Psychological and Psychiatric Services
We are pleased to announce the return of Dr. Susan Hamilton who has been on sabbatical. Dr. Hamilton is a highly trained clinical psychologist who provides consultation, assessment and psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Hamilton is accepting new referrals at both the Ashburn and Leesburg offices. Her biography is listed here for your review.
Dr. Hamilton received her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Institute of Psychiatry, University of London, England, where she worked as a research psychologist conducting research on learning and memory, developing assessment tests and providing psychological services.
After returning to the United States, her career has included private practice, university teaching, consultation, evaluations and counseling. Dr. Hamilton has directed sexual assault and drug treatment programs and, for the past several years, she has supervised the American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Program.
Known nationally and internationally as a subject matter expert in the areas of trauma and prevention of post-traumatic stress disorder, she serves on the Advisory Board of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, the Advisory Committees of America’s Health Together and the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs.
Dr. Hamilton has published extensively in journals and books. She is an experienced public speaker and presenter at conferences. Dr. Hamilton’s major interest is in the evaluation and treatment of adults, teens, children and families. She works with individuals and groups.
